Air abrasion removes tooth decay without the use of a drill. Because we want to protect you from any stray particles, we provide protective eye wear. There is no heat, pressure and vibration, therefore air abrasion preserves more of the healthy tooth structure than traditional drilling. Air abrasion, working like a miniature sandblaster, sprays a stream of silica, aluminum oxide or baking soda and blasts away decay. The particles are suctioned away during the procedure.
Acquiring white spots on your teeth can come from a number of different causes. Braces, tooth decay, medications, developmental abnormalities or too much fluoride in the water can all cause spots on your teeth. Using advanced technology, microabrasion removes stains through a quick and painless procedure. By using hydrochloric acid and pumice to gently remove thin layers of your tooth enamel, your doctor is able to remove the stains from your teeth.
Plasma rich in growth factor (PRGF) helps speed up healing after surgery. PRGF is a type of protein that is obtained by fractioning blood into its components, and is typically used in soft tissue an bone regeneration. This technique uses a small amount of the patient’s blood to isolate proteins that simulate healing, new bone growth and soft tissue repair.
Intraoral cameras are non-invasive, lightweight cameras that use video technology to allow us a close look at your dental health. These cameras let us take a closer look, and help us determine an accurate diagnosis.
Digital x-rays are one of our practice’s core dental technology mechanisms. Computer software facilitates x-ray images onto the computer, allowing us to offer a more accurate diagnosis. Digital x-rays require less radiation than traditional x-rays, an added benefit for our patients.
This 3-D imaging scanner allows us to see a panoramic digital image of your face and jaw. Because of its clear, high definition images, Family Dental Center is better able to plan implants, analyze TMJ, and provide earlier detection of oral infections or tumors.
